40 children gathered to learn about Pesach. The children loved to games, crafts, and learned what a seder is all about. . One child promised that she will be coming back tomorrow, and each day after that!

Miracles of the Mitteler Rebbe - Today!

Chernigov, Ukraine - The crowd gathered in the small synagogue with excited anticipation. The location: Nyezin, resting place of the second Lubavitcher rebbe, just 100 kilometers from home. 

On Lag b’omer, a busload of Jews from Chernigov traveled to Nyezhin to be by the Mitteler Rebbe on this, his holiday.

From the hayom yom of Lag Ba’omer:

Lag Ba'Omer was one of the Mitteler Rebbe's particularly noteworthy festivals. He and the Chassidim would go out to the fields that day. . . Many wonders were seen at that time, most of them involving the blessing of children for childless couples - andall year long people waited for Lag Ba'Omer.

This year, the Jewish community of Chernigov went out to the fields on Lag Ba’omer, hoping that they too, would be worthy of wonders.

Maksim inspired the crowd with his miracle story. 4 years ago, after praying at the ohel in Nyezhim for the chance to have a Jewish education, he and his friends ‘coincidentally’ bumped into a man who took on the cost of their Jewish education.  

In the crowd was Levi, an adorable 2 year old, who, later this summer, will be celebrating his upshernish. He is a miracle child, born after his grandparents visited the ohel in Nyezhin. 

The experience in the ohel was truly one of inspiration. For most, it was their first time there, and they truly felt the holiness of the moment. 

Next, we were on to the grand Lag B’omer barbeque. While the children were entertained by a clown, the adults partook of a delicious barbeque, enjoying the beautiful weather, abundant kosher food, and the Jewish company. 

Perhaps the most touching miracle is how the trip inspired those who were part of it. Michal is a 9 year old girl whose father recently began putting tefillin on each morning. After her trip to Nyezhin, she wanted to know what she can daven. She wants to start each day with a prayer, just like Papa.

Чудеса от Миттелер Ребе сегодня!

  

  Много евреев из разных мест Украины в радостном возбуждении собрались 28 мая, в день праздника Лаг Ба Омер, в маленькой синагоге, что расположена около могилы Второго Любавического Ребе Дов Бера Шнеерсона на еврейском кладбище на окраине Нежина.

    Более 50 человек во главе с раввином Исроэлем Зилберштейном приехали и из Чернигова, чтобы быть  в этом святом месте в очень важный день для праведника Ребе Дов Бера.

  Как написано в книге «День за днем» у Ребе Дов Бера Лаг ба Омер был одним из самых значительных праздников. Ребе с хасидами выезжали в поле… В этот день люди видели много чудес. Но большинство чудес происходило с семейными  парами, у которых не было детей. И народ в течение всего года ждал следующего праздника Лаг ба Омер.

   В этом году евреи Чернигова вышли с раввином в поле в надежде, что они тоже достойны чудес.

    Перед молитвой Давид Роговой вдохновил сомневающихся историей, которая произошла 4 года назад. Тогда в праздник Лаг ба Омер после молитвы на могиле Второго Любавического Ребе за возможность получить еврейское образование он и его одноклассники из Черниговской общеобразовательной еврейской школы «случайно»  встретили человека, который взял на себя обязательство и финансировал осуществление их мечты.

    Среди детей был очаровательный 2-х летний мальчик по имени Леви, которому в конце лета будут делать upshernish (обряд первой стрижки волос) отмечая, таким образом,  его трёхлетие. Он долгожданный ребёнок  появился на свет после самозабвеной молитвы его бабушки на могиле Ребе. И как видим её молитвы были услышаны Б-гом.

   Ощущения и душевные переживания в Охеле (склеп в котором находится могила Ребе) особенные. Для большинства это было первым посещением святого места. И выйдя из Охеля, людей охватывали необычные ощущения и чувства прикосновения к святости.

   На обратном пути наш автобус остановился в одном из  прекрасных уголков  нашего края на берегу красивого озера, окружённого густым лесом. Здесь для детей была организована прекрасная культурно-развлекательная программа с разнообразными играми и призами. Но главным сюрпризом  и подарком  и не только для детей, но и для взрослых стало выступление профессиональных клоунов. И, конечно же кошерная кухня с  грузинскими шашлыками и еврейскими сладостями в хорошей компании.

   Эта поездка вдохновила не только взрослых. Девятилетняя Михаль Глатман, отец которой недавно стал каждое утро  накладывать тфиллин, после поездки в Нежин сказала отцу, что тоже хочет начинать свой день с молитвы.

Уверен, что все наши ожидания и надежды в праздник Лаг ба Омер для нас и для всего народа Израиля в скором времени сбудутся.

The KGB’s Failure in Ukraine

Chernigov, Ukraine- March 8, 1939. The dreaded knock on the door was heard in the home of the beloved rav of Chernigov, Rav Mendel Schneerson. As noted in the archives of the KGB: Citizen Mendel Levkovitch Schneerson, address: Chernigov, Chekova St., 7; arrested. His crime: A passion and mesiras nefesh in tending his flock, in his mission to bring a Jewish tomorrow to the Jews of Chernigov, against the odds of the Soviet propaganda machine. The official records call it ‘anti-Soviet propaganda’.

Many difficult years pass for the orphaned Jews of Chernigov. Communism, Nazism, forced assimilation. Miraculously, against all odds, 5,000 Jews survive. Jewish, as clearly stamped in their passports, but ignorant of Jewish traditions.

March 8, 2013. Three trucks pull up at the Chernigov Jewish Community Center. They deliver their precious cargo: 3300 pounds of Matza, to nourish the souls and spirits of the hungry Jews of Chernigov, Ukraine.

Once, the hearts of Chernigov’s Jews were filled with fear. Today, that fear is replaced with pride, and a yearning for Judaism, as Jewish souls connect to their heritage.

This year, two seders were held in Chernigov, filled to capacity with 150 attendees. Hanging on the wall was a purple banner, with gold letters announcing “Oshutiti Nastoyashuyu Svobodu” – Experience True Freedom.  

Indeed, for the Jews of Chernigov, Pesach symbolized real freedom - physical freedom from the Communist oppression, and the freedom of immersing themselves in their rich heritage.
